I’m off to the Hong Kong Soccer 7’s. Time to play against the football legends

This weekend i’m off to Hong Kong to play in the HKFC Soccer Sevens. to those that don’t have a clue what this all means, well… Games are played with 7 a side. it is a tournament that allows fans to see the stars of today, but also has a separate competition with the veterans (35 and older) of the game in one event.

How about this for a line up for the masters (old boys) event!

my team, Wallsend Boys Club
Peter Beardsley (absolute legend! needs no introduction!)
Alan Thompson (Leeds, Celtic, Aston Villa)
Pat Nevin (chelsea, Everton)
Tony Sealy

Citibank Allstars
Carlton Palmer (England, West Bromwich Albian, Sheff Wed, Leeds)
Seth Johnson (Derby County, leeds)
Frank Sinclair (Chelsea, Leicester City)

Ajax all stars
Jari Litmanen (finish legend)
Kenneth Perez
Aron Winter
Gerry Taggart
Steve Howard

I can’t wait to see the venue for this event. It is quite possibly one of the most kitted out football stadiums in the world, with a 64,000metre venue including hockey, tennis, bowling, indoor sports hall, race track, sports bar and even a swimming pool complex.

I will be posting loads of pictures and updates, so i promise to keep you all posted over the next few days.

  1. Steve Bennett says:

Hi Michael, what’s Peter Beardsley like? He was the reason why I first became a toon fan just over 20 years ago. He was my all time favourite player in UK. When Newcastle lost the title to Man Utd in 95-96 I was heartbroken.

    • Michael says:

Really amazing man who has time for everyone. Gave some great advise and told some very funny stories. Top all round bloke
